Abidal: Guardiola would welcome me at Bayern

Abidal: Guardiola would welcome me at BayernÉric Abidal addressed the public during a segment aired in France on weekly sports show Telefoot. In the interview he referred to the possibility of retirement: “It’s not my time yet. Everything has an end, I have to accept this. The most important thing is to have options, like Monaco for example, which would help me close the circle, because I started playing there.”
Another option for Abidal is Ligue Un outfit Nice, whose current manager is his friend Claude Puel. “He asked me how I’m doing. We talked. I’m sure that he would love to have me in his group.” He also did not dismiss a move to Germany: “Guardiola also asked frequently about me. He knows my situation and would love to have me on his team. And with the ‘feeling’ I have with Ribery it would be lovely. Bayern was the best this season and it would be great to go there. But there are some sporting directors and a president that have the last say.”
Abidal’s options in France include Olympique de Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain. Talking about his former team, he explained that “everything is possible. Rémi has called me, he does it often. I appreciate his interest.” With respect to the Parisian team he added, “I have a good relationship with the president. He came to see me in the hospital, then we didn’t talk for a while, but we never discussed sportive matters.”
On the other hand, in declarations to Le Parisien Abidal pointed a finger at FC Barcelona management: “The problem is that, without intending to, Barça have created concerns over my state of health.”
